Questions & Answers

Frequently asked questions

What age groups are your experiences aimed at?

All experiences are designed around adult learning, though can be tailored for young adults and even children, though adult supervision is advised unless arranged otherwise.

What level of cooking experience do I need to attend?

You do not need any level of cooking experience, as all courses are tailored to suit what you want from it, it will go at your pace and level of understanding.
If you already have a good level of cooking and want to know more then your experience can change to suit you.

Do you cover just the basics?

I start with making sure the basics are understood, which gives you the ground work to build on, this comes from giving you the knowledge behind what you're doing rather than you just doing it because I said so. Then we build on that to give more advanced cooking if it's what you want. The level of what we cover depends entirely on what you want.

Do I need to bring anything with me?

Usually the only thing you need to bring is something to take away what you have made (and haven't eaten), ie Tupperware. Otherwise everything is provided for you. You will be well looked after with drinks and food.

Is there space for parking?

Yes there is space for up to 3 cars, a safe, dry place to park bikes if needed also.

Will I need to take notes whilst cooking?

Though this is a cooking lesson, it's designed around you enjoying the experience and understanding what's going on so that you can recreate it yourself. With that in mind you are welcome to take notes, however all the information from the experience will be sent to you afterwards so you can refer to any details you may have forgotten.

Can I take pictures during the experience?

You are welcome/encouraged to take pictures whilst you are here, sharing helps let other people see what happens at F.Oh.Oh.D.
Your privacy is also important to me, so if you do not wish for any pictures to be taken etc, then please just indicate this on your form before you start. Often we're having too much fun to remember to take pictures.

Where in Hinckley are you?

I am just on the outskirts of town, about 10 minutes walk from the centre, 15 minutes from the train station. You can get to me from the A47, A5 or just off the M69. There is a bus stop outside the main road round the corner from me also.

Can I book an experience any time?

You can book a private experience any time that I am available (use the booking calendar to see and book). Dates are available throughout the year, usually Wednesday - Sunday morning.
Please only book an experience with at least a day in advance to give me time to prep. Bookings with less than 4 days may have to be rearranged or refused, though this is rare.

What is the difference between a private experience and a event experience?

As the name suggests a private experience is just for you and whoever else you book for and can be booked as per above and you can choose what to make.
Event experiences are scheduled on specific dates and run seasonally. They are open for any 4-5 people to book on. They are great for meeting new people and can be slightly more cost effective for one person to attend. The experience subject is set in advance.
